‘Twas the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and our minds were at rest- not a thought there did fester- except those on unfinished tasks, projects, email follow-ups unfullfilled promises and grocery shopping.
What can we do about this?
Let's bother to finish things, before this season snowballs. We can begin small.
Finish little tasks. Look around-what could you get off your plate in 15 minutes or less?
Sometimes I think the objects in my home are speaking to me. “Hem me,” “Return me,” “Throw me out”
I think it’s time to listen.
There are big things too- which need acknowledgement first- Online courses, learning to speak conversational Spanish, calling my cousin.
I get it, you’re busy. You want to wait until after December 25th-and that’s okay too- I love those Goodwill drop-off spots in the week before the New Year.
But maybe a little forward motion now will keep us going-like a good exercise program. Just one finished thing (task, project, assignment, email) a day, until the end of the year.
When you are finished congratulate yourself WELL DONE!
Maybe we will feel more connected, a less burdened with things to do.
And if we come across things we have been meaning to deal with, but no longer want to, we can say goodbye forever, and that will be finishing it.
Nice Work.
